Perfect Petworth Leaflets
If anyone needs more Perfect Petworth leaflets please collect them from Tiffins or email info@petworth.biz
The PBA July meeting is next Thursday, 29 July.
It will be a farm walk at Stag Park Farm and it is by kind permission of Leconfield Farms Ltd - kindly organised by Rowland Kenny.
Time: 6.00pm for a prompt start at 6.30pm.
If the weather is fine the farm walk will include looking at sheep and cattle, and crops if they have not been harvested. If it’s wet there will be cattle penned up under cover to admire.
Drinks will be provided by Leconfield Farms and the barbeque food provided by Petworth Butchers. Â Sausages and burgers in rolls or baps and will be ready by about 8.00 pm.
The entrance to Stag Park Farm is at the lodge on the left-hand side of the London Road between Petworth Downs Golf Club and the Flower Bowl filling station. Follow the long farm drive to the buildings at the end.
The Committee hopes that as many members will be able to attend, for what will be a wonderful evening. There will also be the opportunity to discuss how you as members wish the PBA to spend a £10,000 grant made available to us by CDC - dare one say a sweetener for the car parking charges that will come into effect next April.
Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE)
CPE started in the Chichester District on 12 April 2010. From this date the Police will cease to have any powers to enforce yellow lines and other parking restrictions, only dealing with obstructions and moving traffic offences. All other enforcement will be carried out by the District Council and on behalf of West Sussex County Council.
Traffic problems in North Street
If anyone has had any problems walking up North Street - for example, being clipped by passing cars, Sussex Police would like to hear from you. The Police Ref is: '22nd March 1100' and the phone number is: 0845 6070999 . The more people report incidents, the more chance that something will be done about the traffic speed in North Street.
Pips of Petworth - Sale Details
A VERY WELL ESTABLISHED AND RESPECTED FRUIT & VEGETABLE SHOP SET IN AN EXCELLENT TRADING POSITION IN THE SOUGHT-AFTER BUSY TOWN OF PETWORTH IN WEST SUSSEX
LOCATION
This busy and established fruit and vegetable business, which has been trading (previously under the original owner and now under the current owner) for 25 years, is set in the busy and much sought-after town of Petworth.
Situated in an excellent location, directly adjacent to the free main town car park and on the main pedestrian thoroughfare leading to the town centre, the business is surrounded by other shops and offices and benefits from good local trade, which is enhanced with high visitor trade throughout the year and is particularly further supplemented during the summer.
THE PROPERTY
The front has a main display window with a side door for entry. There is a professionally designed and tailor made sign mounted above the front of the shop, depicting the name of the business, logo and telephone number. Additional signage takes the form of two free standing signs and two hanging blackboards. Tables and chairs and outdoor fruit and vegetable displays also draw attention to the business.
Internally, the sales area is spacious and has a quarried tiled floor. The fruit and vegetables are beautifully displayed in wooden boxes and wicker baskets and there is large serving counter, stretching across the width of the premises. There are two large refrigeration units on one wall and a further refrigeration unit behind the counter.
Staff have access to a W/C with a lobby area and hand basin. There is a well organised preparation area/store room located at the rear of the shop.
There is an extremely reliable, 2002 Citroën Berlingo 1.9D van, professionally branded, with full service history (every 10,000 miles), from new, valid tax and MOT.
There are also 3 sets of professionally branded uniforms.... Polo shirts and fleece jackets, with accompanying hats, gloves and scarves.
THE TENURE
The property is offered with a new 10 year renewable Council lease; with ‘upward only’ rent reviews after every fifth year, at a current rent of £7,250 per annum and current Business Rates of approximately £2,340 per annum.
THE BUSINESS
The owner has run the business for the last two and a half years, with the assistance of friends, family and one part time member of staff. The shop is open from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5.30pm.
At present most produce is supplied by a single wholesaler, in Brighton, with the addition of some local produce, when in season.
There is a great opportunity, if desired, to expand sales by supplying more local businesses. Currently the shop supplies 2 public houses, a local village shop, a local private school, an independent caterer and various private dwellings, including the kitchen of Lord and Lady Egremont and substantial further scope exists.
The average turnover, for the past two and a half years is circa £110,000 per annum and the business would be ideally suited to an owner operator. Further detailed accounts can be made available to seriously interested parties, after an initial viewing and meeting with the owner, where completion of a confidentiality agreement will be required.
The owner, who is relocating to South Africa, is happy to help provide a smooth hand over period to any new owner.
